In 2015, Antony Gormley inaugurated a monumental exhibition consisting of 100 works arranged throughout the space of Forte Belvedere, Florence, a renowned venue for international art interventions. Curated by Sergio Risaliti and Arabella Natalini, HUMAN brought together over one hundred works by Gormley in the inner rooms of the villa, the bastions, the staircases, and the terraces, to occupy every side of the 16th-century fortress with its extraordinary views over the city and the surrounding hills. Born from a consolidated relationship between the director and the artist, the film describes the complexity of the exhibition installation phase and the final exhibition intervention. Here the artist gradually emerges, highlighting some of the most significant aspects of his work, collected thanks to the study of the exhibition and a series of interviews held between Florence and London, at the artist’s studio.
